We are looking for a Backend Engineer with 1–2 years of experience and strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js to build and maintain reliable, scalable backend services. The role involves PostgreSQL database design, API integrations, job queues, scheduling, and developing robust 24×7 production systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with system reliability, error handling, retries, and idempotency, along with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills. Experience with Google Workspace APIs, MCP, and Odoo/ERP integrations will be an added advantage.

• Build and own the backend service for our AI Agent - a TypeScript/Node application that operates inside Google Chat and integrates with external system.
• Develop the Google Chat app: event receiver, messages, file handling, mentions, interactive cards/buttons, and agent-initiated messages.
• Implement identity and access control- matching each user and enforcing role-based permissions so the agent never has more rights than the person it acts for.
• Build the integration through the MCP server (Agents SDK MCP client over streamable HTTP), with request keys, approval checks, chatter logging, and all-or-nothing writes; no direct database writes.
• Develop the planning and allocation engine in plain TypeScript - exact, repeatable calculations for capacity, workload, hour estimates, and monthly planning.
• Implement scheduled and background jobs with pg-boss on PostgreSQL (reminders, daily checks, reports) that are idempotent and survive restarts.
• Design the PostgreSQL 16 + pgvector schema and build the activity log (end-to-end tracking IDs), retries/back-off, and PM safety controls (pause any feature; correct rather than delete).
• Own deployment and operations on a lean stack: DigitalOcean/Ubuntu, systemd, Nginx, Let’s Encrypt, and Bitbucket Pipelines CI/CD, keeping the service running reliably 24×7.

• 1-2 years of backend engineering experience with strong TypeScript (strict mode) and Node.js (LTS), ES modules, and schema validation (Zod or similar) at every boundary.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise - schema design, performance tuning, and migrations.
• Proven experience with job queues/scheduling (pg-boss, BullMQ, or equivalent) and building reliable 24×7 services with clean retries and idempotency.
• Solid API and integration experience (webhooks, OAuth/service accounts, third-party APIs) and production operations on Linux without managed/containerized platforms.
• A track record of production systems you kept reliable, with concrete examples of failures diagnosed and fixed.
• Strong communication and the ability to collaborate with AI and Odoo engineers.
• Nice to have: Google Workspace APIs (Chat, Drive, Gmail), MCP (Model Context Protocol) experience, Odoo/ERP integration, and comfort on a lean open-source stack (no Docker, no Redis, no paid services except the OpenAI API).
